Parent Meeting
Sunday, September 12th, 6:30 pm

With Religious Ed beginning in September this year, and with the busy schedules of so many parents at this time of the year, we are trying a new approach to parent meetings in hopes of many more parents being able to be present. This meeting will focus on the Middle School from 6:30 – 7:30 and the High School from 7:30 – 8:30. For the many parents who have children in both grades, please stay for the whole meeting. By having it all on one night, we save you from having to come out on 2 separate nights! Come and meet our new Coordinator of Religious Ed for grade 6 – 8 and also our new Intern from BC who will be helping with grades 7&8 this year.

Salvation Army “Miracle Kitchen” Soup Kitchen Prepare and serve a meal at the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen (or if you want to help, but don’t have the time available to come with us … you could volunteer to bake cookies or brownies or a sheet cake for dessert!)

Youth Ministry is invited to assist in preparing and serving a meal at the Salvation Army from 4:00 - 7:00 on the 4th Monday of every Month throughout the year. The meal preparation shift starts at 4:00 pm, the server shift begin at 5:45 and cleanup ends by 7:00. Help out from 4 - 7 or come for a shift. This counts towards service requirements. If you are interested in helping please email Paula at pflanagan@saintann.org.

You can do this as a family, or the students can sign up on their own!

The dates for the year are (the 4th Monday of each month): September 27, October 25, November 22, December 27, January 24, February 28, March 28, April 25, May 23

The Salvation Army is located at 35 Concord St Framingham, MA. FYI - if you are meeting us there, the doors are still locked at 4, so you need to knock (loudly) on the windows at the corner of the building.

Middle School Religious Ed and Confirmation Prep If you have not registered yet, you can find the forms on our website at: http://www.stzepherin.org/fre/registration.

Grade 6 begins Tuesday, September 14th from 6:45 – 8:15pm at St. Ann Parish Hall Grade 7 begins Monday, September 13th from 6:45 – 8:15pm at St. Ann Parish Hall Grade 8 begins Monday, September 20 from 6:45 – 8:15pm at St. Ann Parish Hall

Grade 9, first session is on September 19th from 6:15 – 8:15.
The topic is “Being Catholic, The Cliff Notes View”. Pizza will be served!

Grade 10, mini-course booklets will be distributed in early October. In the meantime, all families should have received an email last spring with the Retreat dates, Confirmation date and Mass times and to select either a “Pasta with the Pastor” night, an interview with the pastor, or writing a letter to reflect on your preparation and to request to receive Confirmation this May. Many families have already responded with their choice of retreat date, choice of Mass time and choice of Pastor interaction. If you need this information sent to you, please email Paula Flanagan at pflanagan@saintann.org.

Catechists and small group leaders needed for the 2010-2011 year Middle School Religious Ed is in need of catechists for grades 6, 7 &8. These classes meet approximately 2 times per month. Grade 7&8 are on Monday nights and grade 6 is on Tuesday nights, both are from 6:45 – 8:15pm. We need 6 teachers per grade and currently have 3 per grade. In addition to teaching, it takes about 1 hour to read through each lesson and prepare to teach.

Confirmation Prep is in need of a few small group leaders and substitutes. Year 1 (grade 9) meets once per month on Sunday nights from 6:15 – 8:15pm.

We are also looking for some adults interested in leading a 6 hour mini-course for our Year 2 (10th grade) students. The two types of mini-courses are Scripture and Personal Spirituality. The Scripture courses are using a book called “6 Weeks with the Bible” and the lessons are laid out very well. The Personal Spirituality mini-courses are a bit more varied in materials, but are very interesting to teach. The mini-courses are typically broken down into three 2-hour sessions.

If interested in any of the above needs, please contact Paula Flanagan.
