The Melkite Church celebrates the liturgical day in its prayer life. Place of honor is given to the order of the Hours, also known as the Offices.

They begin with Vespers in accordance with the account of creation in Genesis 1:5, “and there was evening and there was morning, one day.

The other offices include Compline, Mesonyktikon, Orthros (Morning Prayer), and the Little Hours – known as First Hour (6:00 a.m.), Third Hour (9:00 a.m.), Sixth Hour (noon) and Ninth Hour (3:00 p.m.).

Additional liturgical prayers include the Typika and the Paraclesis, also known as the Order of Consolation.
